LINCOLN UNIVERSITY
BENNETT HALL REHABILITATION, LIVING / LEARNING CENTER
JEFFERSON CITY, MISSOURI

Bozoian Group was retained by Lincoln University for programming and design to renovate Bennett Hall into a living/learning center. The goal of the project was for Bennett Hall to be a premier campus housing facility for honor students and United States Department of Agriculture scholars, while offering opportunities for the students to network with visiting faculty, guest speakers and USDA representatives.

The dormitories are comprised of suites where either two or four students share a toilet facility. Suites are co-ed by suite, versus by floor, and some suites were designed to comply with ADA (American with Disabilities Act) requirements. Each floor includes a common kitchen for the students to do their own cooking.

Bennett Hall was also designated as the new location for the Cooperative Research and Extension Department. Department offices, meeting rooms and a resource center are housed in this facility along with classrooms. Guest speakers and USDA representatives will be able to network directly with the students living and attending classes in the facility. During their visit, speakers and representatives will be able to stay in a private suite located within Bennett Hall itself.

Construction for the new living/learning facility was completed in late summer of 2004. The project earned a Preservation Award at the Missouri Preservation 2005 Annual Honor Awards Ceremony at the State Capitol in Jefferson City.
