ILLINOIS STATE UNIVERSITY
EAST CAMPUS RESIDENCE HALL REHABILITATION PROJECT
NORMAL, ILLINOIS

Bozoian Group Architects was selected for a $31 million remodeling project at Illinois State University. Renovations and upgrades will provide residents, staff and visiting faculty with hotelesque features, including a new entrance lobby and welcome center, among many other features.

The East Campus Residence Hall Complex is comprised of three existing structures totaling 394,300 square feet. Two of the structures, Manchester Hall and Hewett Hall, are eighteen story residence towers. The third building, Vrooman Center, is a low rise building that connects both of the towers.

Improvements to the complex consist of reconfiguring the student living floors and the apartments for full-time staff, live-in staff, and visiting faculty. The student floors are designed for suites and community floors. Suite floors will feature private bathrooms shared by four to six students. Community floors will feature large community gathering spaces and smaller, shared communal bathrooms.

The remodel will also transform Vrooman Center into the main entrance and add classrooms, academic assistance centers, computer labs, office space, and a fitness center. Cosmetic improvements will be made throughout the entire complex.

The project will be completed in two phases, with construction currently underway.
