MISSOURI CORRECTIONAL CENTER
MAXIMUM SECURITY PRISON
POTOSI, MISSOURI

This $42,000,000 maximum security prison was the first lease/purchase prison built in the state of Missouri.  As a design/build project, the time from its inception to completion was two years.

The prison itself is 348,000 square feet, utilizing 35 acres of a 127-acre site.  It houses 500 medium and maximum-security inmates.  The inmates are housed within six modular housing “pods,” ranging from medium to maximum security.  These modular pods are designed such that maintenance staff requirements are reduced and security is strengthened.

Inmates are separated by a central administration and support building.  The support building contains chapel and educational, vocational and recreational program areas for the medium security inmates.  For the maximum-security inmates, the support building houses laundry, food preparation and light industry work areas.  The control tower, also located in the center of the facility, monitors all exterior traffic flow.

Ms. Bozoian produced this project for Pearce Corporation.  Her responsibilities for the facility included site observation, resolution of consultant, contractor and architectural discrepancies and production of the exterior details.
