THOMAS JEFFERSON NORTH TOWER RENOVATION

ROLLA, MISSOURI

Increased student enrollment has caused a rise in demand for campus housing at Missouri University of Science & Technology. In response, the University implemented a master plan to improve residential life by designing new residence halls and renovating existing complexes. Included in their plan is a three-phase effort to renovate the two towers at Thomas Jefferson Residence Hall complex. Phase 1 encompasses the seven-story, 118,000 square foot North Tower.

Constructed in 1965, the building requires extensive renovations to improve the student living environment.  The major scope of the project includes 60,000 square feet of floor plan modifications. The complex will undergo building system upgrades and refurbishing of lounges, which includes the addition of a new kitchen. To satisfy students’ needs, additional power will be placed in each student room and throughout the structure. New interior finishes include accessory upgrades all through the building along with lighting and plumbing fixtures. In addition to new switchgear, a new fire protection system and HVAC system will be added.

Bozoian Group teamed with Trivers Associates to create a modernized environment for students.  Bozoian Group provided conceptual design consulting and cost estimating, which was utilized throughout the process as a design tool.
