VADALABENE CENTER RENOVATION

Bozoian Group Architects was selected to provide design and cost management for the $6 million renovation of the Vadalabene Center at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. The University sought to add to and modify the recreational facility to better utilize the space.

Bozoian Group designed a new mezzanine to be constructed inside the Vadalabene Center Gymnasium to accommodate many University activities. The mezzanine provides program space for athletics, kinesiology and recreation. Areas underneath the mezzanine provide offices for the Division I teams’ basketball staff and the Department of Kinesiology and Health Education. Also, under the mezzanine are kinesiology classrooms, new visitor and referee locker rooms, new public restrooms and storage as well as renovated existing restroom facilities. Retractable bleachers were added at both the first floor and mezzanine levels. The first floor bleachers included seats with backs.
