CHRIST OUR SAVIOR LUTHERAN HIGH SCHOOL
PROGRAMMING, PLANNING AND SCHEMATIC DESIGN
EVANSVILLE, ILLINOIS
Bozoian Group Architects was selected by Christ Our Savior Lutheran High School for programming, planning and schematic design services for a new high school located on a 26 acre site in Evansville, Illinois. The client asked Bozoian Group to design a high school to be “of the site” and in harmony with the built vocabulary of an existing adjacent church. As such, outdoor spaces and niches were developed as an inviting spot for prayer, meditation and peace. Building volumes and roof lines were designed to harmonize with the rolling landscape and incorporate passive solar design. Durable, natural materials were selected for the exterior walls with colors to complement or blend with nature.
Two diverse schemes were developed exploring the opportunities for a conventional one-building facility and a campus style facility, both utilizing passive solar energy design wherever practical. Designed to be constructed in phases, both schemes are comprised of four major components; athletics, academics, administration and community center, with Phase I of construction designated to be the athletic component of the facility.
The other main space within the community center is the information center. The information center is scheduled to provide instruction, distance learning and adult education. Our design includes special attention to details such as electrical power, data, lighting, glare, colors, sound absorption, sound isolation and window treatment.
